چکیده

Original Article The present study has been conducted on normal 100 newborn females, born at Umaid Hospital, Dr. S. N. Medical College, Jodhpur (Rajasthan). The aim of the study was to find out frequency of sex chromatin positive cells in buccal smear of normal newborn females and their relation with the birth weight. The slides were prepared from the buccal smears and stained by the Carbol Fuschin method. The sex chromatin bodies were present in range of 3-11% with an average of 6.4 ± 0.25%. We found no relation between the number of sex chromatin positive cells and the birth weight of newborn females.

Correlation between Sex Chromatin and Female Breast Tumour in Paraffin Sections, Buccal Smears and Peripheral Blood Films.

INTRODUCTION Sex chromatin is a plano-convex to triangular DNA mass measuring approximately 1μm in size and lying adjacent to the inner side of nuclear membrane in the somatic cells of the females. There is consistent loss in the sex chromatin percentage in the carcinoma cases in comparison to benign lesions and normal individuals. AIM To know the correlation between the sex chromatin status ...

Sex Chromatin Frequency Variation among Breast Cancer Patients and Normal Females of Two Reproductive Stages from Bengalee Hindu Females

Original Article X chromosome inactivation refers to the developmentally regulated process of silencing gene expression from all but one X chromosome per cell in female mammals in order to equalize the levels of X chromosome derived gene expression between the sexes. In females, X chromosome inactivation (XCI) begins with the expression of the XIST gene from the X chromosome destined to be inac...

A comparison study of carbol fuchsin and papanicolaou staining methods for the demonstration and enumeration of barr bodies in buccal smear

Introduction: Barr body is of the X chromosomes formed from random inactivation and condensation of one of the two female chromosomes in virtually all the somatic cells of female mammals. In practice stains such as Papanicolaou, and carbol fuchsin, have proved suitable because they produced stronger contrast and are much simple to manipulate. Aim: Our study aimed to assess the efficacy of gende...
